The military scholarship was created to increase the number of counselors available to serve military personnel and families suffering from a shortage of available mental health professionals. The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017 military scholarships for service members, veterans and their spouses pursuing a career in professional counseling. These scholarships provide financial support to students who are currently enrolled in a CACREP-accredited, master’s-level counseling program; are active duty, have served in the military within the past five years or are a military spouse; and who commit to serving military personnel.
One scholarship in the amount of $8,000 is available to either a military or rural applicant.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a CACREP-accredited counseling master’s program.
  • Applicants must be former or current active-duty U.S. military service members or spouses of a military service member whose service was within the past five years. Veterans must have served in the military within the past five years and have received an honorable discharge.
  • Applicants must commit to applying for the National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification prior to graduation and to completing the application process.
  • Applicants must commit to providing mental health services to service members and/or veterans.

The application period is currently open to local residents only as a part of NBCC Foundation's Family First Campaign.
